Sarthi ("we", "our", or "us") is a mental wellness app designed to support your emotional and psychological well-being. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, how long we retain it, and how you can have it deleted.

1. Information We Collect

• Phone number – used for account creation and authentication via Firebase Phone Auth.
• Profile information – name and optional profile picture you provide.
• Journal entries – text you write in the in-app journal.
• Chat messages – conversations with the Sarthi AI companion.
• Goals and tasks – wellness goals and daily tasks you create.
• Daily anchors and planner data – routines and schedules you set up.
• App usage analytics – screen views, feature usage, session duration, and crash reports collected via Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics. No personally identifiable information is included in analytics events.
• Device information – device model, OS version, app version, and locale, used for crash diagnostics.
• Push notification token – to send you reminders and wellness nudges you opt into.
• Audio – microphone access is used only for voice input features within the app. Audio is not stored on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and personalise the Sarthi experience.
• To power the AI companion with context from your goals and conversations.
• To send you reminders and notifications you have enabled.
• To improve app stability and performance through anonymised analytics.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following service providers, strictly to operate the app:

• Google Firebase – authentication, push notifications, analytics, and crash reporting.
• Google Gemini / Vertex AI – AI responses generated from your chat messages.
• Pinecone – vector storage for personalised AI context (stores anonymised embeddings, not raw text).
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) – backend infrastructure and database hosting.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. Specifically:

• Account data, journal entries, chat history, goals, and tasks – retained while your account exists and deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
• Analytics data – retained for up to 14 months in Firebase Analytics, in anonymised form.
• Crash logs – retained for up to 90 days in Firebase Crashlytics.
• Push notification tokens – deleted when you delete your account or uninstall the app.

5. Data Deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time using either of these methods:

• In-app: Go to Settings → Delete Account. This immediately deletes your profile, journal entries, chat history, goals, tasks, daily anchors, and AI context vectors.
• By email: Send a deletion request to support@thesarthi.in with the subject line "Account Deletion Request". We will process it within 7 business days.

After deletion, your data is permanently removed from our servers and cannot be recovered.

6. Children's Privacy

Sarthi is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@thesarthi.in.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption in transit, Firebase Authentication for secure login, and access controls on our backend infrastructure.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@thesarthi.in.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
